Wings Etc. Wabash’s unique people, atmosphere help create community connections
Wabash native Tina Floor, who has worked with Burcroff family-owned Wings Etc. locations for several years, helps make Wings Etc. a great place in the community
WABASH, Ind. (June 3, 2022)—Wings Etc. has been a staple in the Wabash community since its opening in 2018. While guests come for the wings, they often stay for the people that make the place unique. One such person is life-long resident and Wings Etc. Wabash General Manager Tina Floor, who has worked for the Burcroff family for several years.
Floor began her Wings Etc. career in Huntington, also owned by the Bryan and April Burcroff family, not long after the location’s opening in 2008. Eventually, she had to make the difficult decision to leave and focus on caring for her children.
“I had to do what I had to do to raise my kids, but I always missed it,” she said.
In 2020, however, a chance arose to work at the Wabash store—in Floor’s hometown—and she took it.
“I love it here,” she said. “The Burcroffs are such great people to work for and make my job wonderful. They are very supportive and trust my decisions as General Manager. This is definitely a job I love coming to every day.”
Wings Etc. Wabash, located conveniently at 1439 Cass St.—right off of US 24 and IN 15, features quite a few unique pieces in addition to its unique people. When guests first enter the location, they are greeted by a pair of size 23 authentic Shaquille O’Neal shoes in a glass case. Near the bar area, a statue of Michael Jordan and the world’s tallest man Robert Wadlow (at 8’11”) tower over guests. The pieces are remnants of a now-closed local sporting goods store.
“The owner of that store and (Wabash Wings Etc. owner) Bryan Burcroff are good friends, and after the sporting goods store closed, he brought some pieces in people would recognize,” said Floor. “People love the statues; they are always taking pictures with them, and they are a very unique addition to our location.”
While the statues are a distinctive part of Wings Etc. Wabash, they aren’t the only thing that stands out about the location. As many businesses in the restaurant industry are struggling to find workers, Wings Etc. Wabash is fully staffed. Floor attributes this to a flexible, respectful work environment.
“I have team members that care for their children and need a flexible work schedule, and we work with that,” Floor said. “I work around everyone’s schedules and treat my employees the way that I want to be treated. It really makes a huge difference.”
“The atmosphere is very laid back at Wings Etc. We aren’t formal. You can be yourself here,” Floor continued. “It’s really a great place.”
Wings Etc. Wabash is also a place that strives to give back to the community. When an organization in need reaches out to Wings Etc. Wabash, they typically receive help of some form. Throughout the past six years, the sports bar has helped raise funds for area schools and non-profits through their Dine to Donate program and has been a sponsor for various area sports teams, charity fundraisers, and community events. Currently, a Dine to Donate is planned for Wednesday, June 15 for a local veteran who lost his home in a fire. Fifteen percent of the total sales from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. will be donated to the veteran.
“I have lived in Wabash my entire life, so it’s wonderful that we are able to make a difference here,” said Floor. “The Burcroff family is very supportive of the community, and we are always looking for ways to help.”
At Wings Etc. Wabash, the Burcroffs, Floor, and the Wings team aim to create community connections, whether it be by providing friendly service to a first-time guest, lending a listening ear to the stories of regulars, or giving back to those in need.
